MAKES

10 ounces

Ingredients

  • ½ cup coconut oil
  • ½ cup shea butter
  • ¼ cup cocoa butter
  • 2 tbsp dried lavender buds
  • 2 tbsp dried rose petals
  • 1 tbsp dried rosemary leaves
  • 1 tbsp dried mint leaves
  • 1 tbsp dried oregano leaves
  • 2 tbsp evening primrose oil
  • 10 drops tea tree essential oil

Steps

Infuse the oils with herbs

  • Place coconut oil in a double boiler or heat-safe bowl over simmering water.
  • Add lavender, rose petals, rosemary, mint, and oregano.
  • Heat gently on low for 1–2 hours, stirring occasionally (do not boil).
  • Strain the oil through cheesecloth or a fine sieve to remove herbs.
  • Squeeze or press herbs to get out any absorbed oil.

Melt butters

  • In the same double boiler, combine shea butter and cocoa butter with the strained infused coconut oil.
  • Heat gently until everything is melted together (about 5 minutes).

Cool and whip

  • Remove from heat and let cool slightly (until mixture begins to solidify around the edges).
  • Add evening primrose oil and tea tree oil.
  • Using a hand mixer or immersion blender, whip until fluffy and creamy.

Store

  • Transfer into clean, airtight glass jars.
  • Store in a cool, dry place. Shelf life is about 6 months.

  • Tea Tree Oil: Strong antimicrobial, effective against acne and blemishes.

How To Use:

  • Apply a small amount (about the size of a pea) to dry or irritated skin as a daily moisturizer.
  • Works especially well after bathing, when skin is still slightly damp.
